 Presidents Message

  Howdy,

I recently made a trip to Sulphur Springs to check things out and will be making another with some board members in the near future. I met with Cecile and the ladies at the Civic Center. It looks like Sulphur Springs will be a good meet site. The Civic Center looks adequate. The area roads looked like good riding. Be prepared for potholes in the city though. I stayed in one of older motels. It wasn’t fancy but it was clean and quiet but had only a limited number of non-smoking rooms.  Some of the motels are fairly new and a new La Quinta may be finished by the meet. There are 36 RV spots with water and electricity. 36 is the number we used last year. Half of the spots are not very level so by chance you end up on one of them bring some extra blocks and an extra water hose and electric cord to get on leveler ground. Rest rooms and Showers are near the camping area. There is not a scooter lock up area as such but an arena to park the scooters inside in the dry and out of sight of the public from Wednesday through Saturday. In checking out the city, we went to the Music Box Display in the Library, and the ladies should enjoy it. We also went to the Heritage Center Museum and grounds, which have several old buildings from the turn of the century. Everyone will want to go through the Diary Museum and it is right in front of the Civic Center. They even have Ice Cream there. Sulphur Springs is an ice cream coinsures delight as it also has a Diary Queen and a Brahms. I don’t want to hear any complaints about not having a place to ride to for Ice Cream! If you have a package car ice cream scooter this would be a good meet to bring it to, hint, hint. We still need volunteers for a 50 mph plus vanguard ride if there is going to be one. There is still time to get your show scooters finished. I highly recommend you get your motel reservations early and your registration in as early as possible to be sure you get fed at the Banquet. Last year the Caterer ran out of food because of all of the late registrations. We are moving right along with planning so come on and check out a new meet site.

Just puttin’ along….
